Premium BioFibre™ Cellulose Acetates

Acetate is a cornerstone of Enki sunglasses. We choose premium acetate for its exceptional strength, flexibility, and striking aesthetic. Sourced from the finest suppliers, these acetates are known for their vibrant colors, deep textures, and smooth finishes. Each sheet is expertly cut and shaped by hand, creating frames that are both lightweight and durable. Additionally, acetate is hypoallergenic, making it the ideal material for all-day wear.

In our pursuit of sustainability, we also use BioFibre™ cellulose bio-acetates—an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics. These materials, derived from renewable plant fibers like cotton, wood, and bamboo, offer the same durability and flexibility as conventional acetates but with far less environmental impact.

Here’s how BioFibre™ cellulose bio-acetates are crafted:

  • Sustainable Sourcing: Cellulose is extracted from renewable plant sources like cotton, bamboo, or flax, making it an incredibly sustainable resource.
  • Eco-Friendly Process: Acetic acid, sourced from wood or vinegar, is combined with cellulose to form cellulose acetate, a compound that can be molded into flexible, durable sheets for eyewear frames.
  • Plant-Based Plasticizers: Plasticizers made from plants are added to enhance flexibility while remaining non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
  • Natural Dyes: Rich colors and patterns are added using natural dyes, avoiding harmful chemicals and ensuring eco-conscious production.

Luminyl™ CR-39 Lenses

Each pair of Enki sunglasses features Luminyl™ CR-39 lenses, renowned for their exceptional clarity, lightness, and durability. These lenses offer the optical quality of crown glass but at a fraction of the weight. CR-39 lenses are shatter-resistant, providing long-lasting durability and safety.
