There are a few different ways in which the sun send energy to earth, ultraviolet radiation, which we can't see or feel, visible light and infrared radiation, which we feel as heat, are all parts of the electromagnetic spectrum of solar energy, which is transferred from the sun to earth daily. 

UVA makes up around 95% of the UV radiation that reaches the earth. They are the most damaging penetrating deeply into the inner layers of skin causing cancer and premature skin aging changes, including wrinkle formation or crows feet around the eyes (photoaging) 

Eye diseases related to UVA include skin cancer, cataracts, macular degeneration
