HEGIAS IN AMBER TORT WITH OLIVE ARMS AND COPPER LENSES
Hegias was a Neoplatonist philosopher who lived in the 5th and 6th centuries. He may have been the great-grandson or great-great-grandson of Plutarch of Athens, the founder of the Neoplatonist Academy in Athens. Neoplatonism is a modern term for a strand of Platonic philosophy that started with Plotinus in the 3rd century. Neoplatonic philosophy derives the whole of reality from a single principle, "the One", an idea which is still popular in modern-day spirituality.
